2018 ~ The College Football Season Week 6 (Mascot Battle Week!) ~ featuring Wisconsin-River Falls, New Mexico Highlands, Wingate, & Florida Tech

Both teams in each matchup have the same mascot, so you’d better believe these are more than just faux-football games, there’s some serious pride on the line.  Everyone wants the alpha mascot.  Let the battles begin!

Game 1 – Wisconsin-River Falls vs. Air Force  (Falcon Fight!)

University of Wisconsin-River Falls is school located on the Kinnickinnic River, situated in the St. Croix river valley, and part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.  Though the name of the university was formerly University of Minne-Wis-Kinni-Croix-River Falls, it was mercifully shortened to its current name.  That is entirely untrue.

They are the Falcons.  So is Air Force.  Respect for the military be gone.  Rivers be damned.  Birds of prey, attack!

Game 2 – Oklahoma State vs. New Mexico Highlands  (The Duel)

It’s a duel between Cowboys.  Yee-ha!

New Mexico Highlands University is a public school of 3,700 located in Las Vegas.  Las Vegas, New Mexico, of course.  At NMHU, you can minor in coaching. perhaps as a fallback in case, say, your chemistry career doesn’t pan out.

There’s cowboys in New Mexico.  There’s even more in Oklahoma.  Time to sort out who’s top gun in this town!

Game 3 – Georgia vs. Wingate  (Battle of the Bulldogs)

Wingate University is a school of 3,600 spread across three campuses in North Carolina.  The main campus is in Wingate, with the others located in Ballantyne and Hendersonville.  A trifecta of learning, if you will.

The school was named after Dr. Washington M. Wingate, a man with a stately name if I’ve ever heard one.  The M stands for Manly, which only adds to his good name, literally.

It’s the Wingate Bulldogs and the Georgia Bulldogs, growling it out on the gridiron!  Oh my, keep a distance.

Game 4 – Florida Tech vs. Pitt  (Panthermania!)

Florida Institute of Technology is a private research-intensive university of 6.500 brilliant students located in Melbourne, part of Florida’s “Space Coast“.  In their College of Engineering, there’s more research labs than student suntans.

Not only are these students extremely smart, but they’re panther-like.  But alas, so are the students at Pitt.  It’s gonna be a football cat fight.  Fierce.  Hungry!  It’s Panthermania!

Let the games begin!
